Gratitude

We have the Thanksgiving holiday to provide us with our annual reminder to show gratitude. I’m participating, as many do, with a gratitude list. However, what we need to keep in mind is that our gratitude list should be an everyday affair.

Starting your day with gratitude brings you so many benefits. With negativity and darkness all around us in our society, it is easy to get swept into those ways of thinking. Being mindful of the people and things we are grateful for helps shift our own mindset into a more positive one. Did you know that a fake smile still registers in the brain as a real one? By smiling, even when we don’t feel like it, we send ourselves positivity from within. If we are able to start our day with a grateful heart or positive affirmation, what a difference it makes to our whole day.

I invite all of you to make your own gratitude list and then, every day, think of one thing you are grateful for.  Enjoy.
I am grateful for:

  • My family: without them I would be lost.
  • My kids: their reminder of unconditional love, their ability to help
me laugh and make me stay in good moments.
  • My parents: reminding me of what love really is.
  • My sister…and her tough love!
  • My friends: helping me out of dark moments and letting me know they don’t
    last forever.
  • The ocean: teaching me to breath and reminding me to appreciate the gift
    and beauty of nature.
  • Grief: for teaching me how strong I really am.
  • Courage.
  • The doctors and nurses that took care of my mom and nursed her back to
    health.
  • People in my life and their willingness to share their stories with me.
  • Clarity
  • Darkness for it helps us find our purpose.
  • The sunshine and its gift of light and warmth.

For those who chose to read: thank you.
Again, I encourage you all to create your own list. Every day find one thing that fills your heart with gratitude.
