Frequently asked questions

There is no set time for the length of therapy.  I have training in brief systemic therapy which can range from one session to 20 sessions.  However, the average range is around 12 to 15 sessions.  When you come in for an appointment we make treatment goals together and during your therapeutic journey we check in and review those goals to make sure you are working towards them.

One more note, if you are using insurance they do dictate the length of therapy.  If you choose to use your insurance we will need to review the criteria for how many sessions they will allow.

The first session for all types of therapy could be looked at as an assessment/interview.  We’ll spend some time getting to know each other.  I’ll give you some more information about my background and answer any question you may have.  I’ll ask you some in depth questions to get an idea of your background and situation.  We will talk about you reason(s) for seeking therapy, and how I can be helpful to you.

I service St. Petersburg, FL and the greater Tampa Bay area from my office on Pass-A-Grille Beach.  You can find directions to my office here.

I am not able to prescribe medication.  Only a psychiatrist or your family doctor can prescribe medication.  If you are currently taking medication it is important that you inform me off all the medication so I can have all accurate information.

Effective Jan. 1, 2022, a ruling went into effective called the ” No Surprises Act” which requires mental health practitioners to provide a “Good Faith Estimate” (GFE) about out- of network care to any patient who is uninsured or who is insured but does not plan to use their insurance benefits to pay for health care items and/or services.

You have the right to receive a GFE for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items of services. This includes related costs like medical test, prescription drugs, equipment and hospital fees.  Make sure your health care provider gives you a GFE in writing at least 1 business day before your medical services. You can also ask your health care provider, an any other provider you choose, for a GFE before you schedule a session.  If you receive a bill that  is at least $400 more than your GFE, you can dispute the bill.  Make sure you save a copy of your GFE.  For questions or more information about your rights to a GFE, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or 800-985-3059
